Theoretically yes, but they are not perfect.

Unfortunately, we can not rely solely on the authorities to filter our water. There are also chemicals which are adder to treat water. However, many people chose to filter these chemicals out due to negative health affects that can be caused by the water additives.

Yes! City water does have some hardness in it. Also, the taste and effects of chlorine/chloramines as well as fluoride are issues.  Many people chose filtration as a method of removing these harmful chemicals.

Some filter systems require the filter’s to be replaced on a regular basis. The length of time between filter changes depends on the quality of water and the amount of water that is used.

Some filter systems regenerate themselves and clean out their media beds. Some of these require adding an additive to regenerate the bed (For example a softener requires that salt be added to the brine tank).

These systems can last for years before they need to be re-bedded or replaced.

We get asked this often. The answer is likely not. Water softeners deal with certain problems, but not all of them. We can help you find the most effective, efficient and economical way to deal with the water issues you have.

A point of use filtration system is a system that has a limited purpose in the house. A reverse osmosis system is usually a point of use system installed at a sink to provide drinking water.

A water softener or iron filter are systems installed where the water enters the home and filters all the water for the house.

Special filters are required for hot water lines since the hot water can cause the plastics to release chemicals into the water.

These can be removed or reduced through shock chlorination of a water source (example: Well)

Other methods include Chlorine injection systems, where chlorine bleach is injected into the water and then filtered out, or by using an ultraviolet lamp which kills the bacteria as the water passes through it.
